Stranded sailor attempts to get life back on track in nautical novel

Capt. Marlena Brackebusch takes readers on a journey of healing through the high seas in “Nightmare Voyage: From Collision to Redemption”

Nothing is scarier for sailors and boaters than being stranded at sea. After the boat she is delivering to Ft. Lauderdale sinks, Linda finds herself alone in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Readers of all ages with an interest in sailing will enjoy Linda’s adventure as she pieces her life back together in Capt. Marlena Brackebusch’s “Nightmare Voyage: From Collision to Redemption” (ISBN 0615445918).

When Linda and Joey are hired to deliver a sailboat from Boston to south Florida, the team eventually rounds Cape Hatteras and sinks following a mysterious collision. Joey goes missing, and Linda’s only hope is her life vest. A group of fishermen rescues her, but the team cannot locate Joey in the Atlantic. Linda takes comfort with Eric, one of her rescuers, and the two become inseparable.

While Linda struggles to recover from the accident, Eric takes her far from the ocean to his Texas ranch so that she might escape the constant reminders of the sinking. She slowly begins to heal and rediscover another passion of hers in Eric’s horses. Though Linda is finally moving on from the tragedy, she cannot shake the feeling that Joey is alive.
Eric and Linda embark on a cross-country expedition to locate Joey and indulge in their blossoming relationship. They travel from Linda’s business in Naples to Key West to hook up with her tarot card-reading sister. Then, the pair heads for the Carolinas, where they begin searching from the sky for Joey. Just as they begin to take their growing relationship to the next level, a dramatic turn of events threatens to ruin their happiness – and Linda’s recovery.
“This is not simply a book about a sailing disaster,” Brackebusch says. “This is a spiritual journey through the emotions and conflicts one encounters when dealing with loss.”

Brackebusch combines heartbreaking emotion with action to engage readers in Linda’s whirlwind mission to put her life back together. “Nightmare Voyage” promises to be a lighthearted novel that readers can enjoy while spending their own summer sailing or sitting at the beach.
